Rebel8 is deeply rooted in graffiti, Tattoo, and Skateboarding culture. Their core purpose is to showcase our lifestyle to the world through unique products. Mike Giant and Joshy started Rebel8 Clothing in 2003 with $500, however, the streetwear brand rebel8 events really begins in 1998 whilst Joshy was failing high school. Restless and uninspired by the public school system, he launched a website dedicated to San Francisco graffiti called HiFiArt. Back then he spent the majority of hes time snapping photos of graffiti and documenting it online. It was during these years that he became quite familiar with one of the city’s most notorious writers, Giant. In 2000, Joshy learned Giant had taken his artistic talents to skin and I reached out to him for a tattoo appointment. The friendship between us was immediate. Over the next few years, he got more tattoos and ultimately thought of Rebel8. To this day, Rebel8 remains a passion project between two friends. Over a decade later and now internationally recognisable, they’re still committed to the communities from which they hail.
